Red Ryder

December 13th, 2013

‘Tis the season, Christmas is right around the corner, actually a little too close around the corner for me, projects have been piling up and deadlines are looming but I was struck with an idea for a printable and just had to drop everything to put it together.

For me one of the best parts of Christmas are the Christmas movies. Oh, if you only knew how many cheesy Hallmark movies I have watched over the past several weeks. I mean, they started up two weeks before Thanksgiving and have just kept going. Did you know they play those said cheesy movies all night long? Even after every other channel has switched over to infomercials like “24 Ladders In One”, “Shark vs. Dyson: The Real Truth”, “I Hate My Wrinkles” and “Adam Levine for Proactive” the Hallmark cheesefest rolls on.

But truly, the greatest Christmas movie, in my opinion, is “A Christmas Story”. I’m a huge fan of Ralphie “with that dumb, round face and that stupid stocking cap.” My well worn DVD has been popped in several times already this season and you can bet every T.V. within my vicinity will be tuned to the 24-hour marathon on TBS Christmas Day, one of the greatest traditions every created.

So of course I had to turn one of the greatest lines of the movie into a holiday printable…

I had a frame laying around that I painted to match and then I decided to stuff something into a jar once again…

my replica of Ralphie’s house on “good old Cleveland Street.” A couple of years ago both of my sisters, one in Texas and one in Nebraska, found Ralphie’s house along with the Chinese Restaurant and Flick stuck to that infamous flag pole at Walgreen’s of all places. They then both proceeded to buy them for me for Christmas. One set was returned, but ever since I’ve checked Walgreen’s every year for pieces to add to my collection, so far no luck. And stupid me, I cut completely through the light cord of the Chinese Restaurant when I was taking it out of the box and have yet to find a replacement so so far it’s never been lit up, “Fa ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra.”

I also added my favorite little toy car with a bottle brush tree tied to the top “Ain’t no needles coming off this here tree. This here is a tree.” Looks a lot like Ralphie’s family car doesn’t it?

Ahh, I just look at this little vignette and can’t help but smile every time, just like I smile every time I hear Ralphie say “Flick says he saw some grizzly bears near Pulaski’s candy store!”

I’ve included the printable for your downloading pleasure, hope it makes you smile.

LOVE this post!! We ‘watch’ the movie for 24 hours as well!! I bought little containers of cheap chocolate fudge at Bed, Bath & Beyond for stocking stuffers – complete with a picture of Ralphie and the quote “Oh Fuuuuudge!”
