The Amazing Race Huebert Edition Season Two

Friday, August 4th, 2017

On July 17, 2017 eight teams of Huebert cousins raced around Mahoney State Park in pursuit of  a million dol… oops… that’s actually Phil’s line… in pursuit of two chintzy, homemade trophy’s and most importantly bragging rights until the next reunion on ‘The Amazing Race Huebert Edition Season Two’.

March Madness

Sunday, April 10th, 2016

Two months. I made it two months. It’s a record actually. I kept a New Year’s Resolution for two months. Technically a little over two months if you’re keeping track. You may remember that resolution, the one that said I was going to blog at least once a week from here on out. Well it lasted two months and then I descended into “March Madness”.

The Amazing Race – Huebert Edition

Tuesday, October 13th, 2015

This is Mahoney State Park. (Cue the dramatic background music in your mind) Located near Ashland, Nebraska just off I-80. This beautiful park is nestled among 700 acres along the picturesque Platte River. (It wasn’t in our budget to rent a helicopter and take a bunch of those all-important sweeping overhead shots so this will have to do…)

The Graduates

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015

It seems like only yesterday I was writing about “Wedding Season”. “Wedding Season” soon turned into “Prom Season” which very quickly turned into “Graduation Season”. And a busy “Graduation Season” it was. It still blows my mind that my friends have kids graduating from high school. How did that happen? I still remember when they were babies traumatized by 4th of July Fireworks and tag-along little brothers who always knew exactly what we adults were talking about because “I have ears you know.” Noted, from then on we were a little more careful about what we said around Jordan.

On The Boardwalk

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

I believe I stated in my last post that it was “Wedding Season”. Well, I was wrong, it’s actually “Prom Season”. And Prom went down in my little burg last weekend. Let me just say, for a town that could have been mistaken for the set of the movie “Footloose”… we’ve come a long way.

MacKenzie & Zach

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015

Wedding season has officially arrived and my first job of the “season” is in the books. I had the honor of working on a couple of projects for Miss MacKenzie Dick, now Richert.

Smiling Sidney

This is my little cousin Sidney, or Sinee as I like to call her thanks to her younger sister Camryn never having the time to pronounce that “D”, especially when Sidney did something to annoy her.

Throwback Thursday – Little Piggies

Brown Paper package

It’s ‘Throwback Thursday’! That’s a thing right? If it isn’t it is now. Actually it’s just a cute title I’m giving this post to make it look like I had every intention of writing it a good five to six months late. So let’s just set my flux capacitor dials back to August of 2013. What? Were you expecting a trip back to the 1950’s ‘Enchantment Under the Sea’ dance? Sorry, nothing that exciting. We’re just going back to last August when I was invited to a baby shower for my beautiful little cousin Malaina. (I for some reason tend to call all of my cousins kids “little cousins” even though many of them are now grown adults as is evidenced by Malaina’s belly.)

I put in an order to sister Kris for some of her cute little burp rags (peas and carrots this time) and then wrapped them up in a “brown paper package all tied up with string” (just sang that as I typed) and headed out in the August heat (remember that August heat? I can’t believe I miss it) for a baby shower in the country.

Winter Song

Sunday, February 16th, 2014

Okay, I have a new favorite musical event. If you read my blog on a somewhat regular basis you will remember me gushing last spring about my alma mater’s production of “Fiddler On the Roof”, well here I go again… let the gushing commence. Saturday night I attended my school’s “Winter Song”, something I’d never done before. It’s been around for several years and for some crazy reason I’ve never gone. I won’t make that mistake again, let’s just say I was blown away.

Southern Fried Parties: Things Are Looking Grimm

Thursday, November 21st, 2013

3 Grimm sign

Previously on Southern Fried parties… a group of innocent and unsuspecting family members headed down south to offer up their party prep services to a very ambitious and somewhat demanding amateur party planner. Pumpkins were painted, cottages constructed and the party planners equally ambitious husband toiled away into the wee small hours of the night building one spooky Enchanted Forest.
