Cutting Corners

Friday, April 12th, 2013

No, I don’t mean “cutting corners” as in taking the easy way out and creating a crappy product, because believe me, this wasn’t easy or a shortcut. I wanted my Heartland Prom tickets to have the cut corners so they would look like a ticket. When I designed them I had my fingers crossed that the printer I’ve been using would have some way to cut the corners. Eeeehhhh! (that’s supposed to sound like a game show buzzer) he did not have that capability and thought I was crazy to attempt to do it by hand. Actually what he said was “You do realize it’s four corners per ticket and 140 tickets!” “Yes.” I told him, “I’ve hand cut more than that for a project.”

Amazing Expanding 1

I became a Great Aunt a little over a week ago, or as my parents would say a “grota taunta” (that would be Great Aunt in German, of course I’m absolutely positive I spelled it wrong because any German words I write down I spell like they sound, except of course, our local German foods, those spellings I have down, but I digress… as I often do) back to the Great Aunt thing. My sister and I have been throwing around dates to give our niece Morgan a baby shower for months and none of them seemed to want to stick. It’s difficult to set a date that works for everyone these days, especially since the planners and the honoree live in three different states, travel plans then become an issue. We had already given up on getting a shower in before the baby arrived and figured it would be even more fun to have the Little Peanut there at her own shower, so little Sawyer Mae will be a bit over three weeks old when we introduce her to some of her mommy’s friends.

Project Progress Report

Thursday, March 28th, 2013

So this is meant to make me feel a little better about this week. I have no completed projects to post so I thought I would share a “Progress Report” of sorts. It seems like I constantly have four to five projects in various states of completion.

Project Progress1

This week those projects included a Family Poster, T-Shirt color separations, a wedding invitation and a prom ticket design. Hopefully I can dig in and finish some of these over the weekend.

Hadley's BD

How fitting that the week of Dr. Seuss’s birthday I get asked to make some Dr. Seuss themed party invites for one of my favorite soon-to-be-7-year-olds Hadley.
