The Graduates

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015

It seems like only yesterday I was writing about “Wedding Season”. “Wedding Season” soon turned into “Prom Season” which very quickly turned into “Graduation Season”. And a busy “Graduation Season” it was. It still blows my mind that my friends have kids graduating from high school. How did that happen? I still remember when they were babies traumatized by 4th of July Fireworks and tag-along little brothers who always knew exactly what we adults were talking about because “I have ears you know.” Noted, from then on we were a little more careful about what we said around Jordan.

On The Boardwalk

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

I believe I stated in my last post that it was “Wedding Season”. Well, I was wrong, it’s actually “Prom Season”. And Prom went down in my little burg last weekend. Let me just say, for a town that could have been mistaken for the set of the movie “Footloose”… we’ve come a long way.

Glowing bones

Ba da beep beep beep. Ba da beep beep beep. We interrupt your regularly scheduled posts (cough, cough, cough, cue the eyeroll, like there’s such a thing as a regularly scheduled posts in my world) to bring you a special spooky edition of “Southern Fried Parties”. I’ve decided it might be a good idea to share my recent Halloween adventure with all of you before you slip into a turkey coma following your Thanksgiving meal.

Bachelorette 2

I thought I was done with wedding projects but I guess not. Technically I guess this project would be labeled as “wedding adjacent”. My sister’s niece Paige was the Matron of Honor at the upcoming wedding of one of her good friends, thus putting her in charge of the Bachelorette party. Paige called me up and asked if I could quickly come up with some invites for her. A pretty simple job since she didn’t really have any specifications on what they should look like, they should “just be cool.” So I did my best.

My Mobile Sweat Shop, With A Side Of Sweet Corn

Program with scissors

It was time once again to put the Sweat Shop into action. Caitlin and Daniel’s wedding was a little over a week away and I had agreed to make their wedding programs along with their wedding invitations (which I posted about earlier, remember the oak tree?). Luckily, they, like Troy and Sara, wanted fan programs, after all, we were heading into August and the ceremony would be outdoors. “Are fan programs a problem?” they wondered? “Heck no, I’m an old pro at making fan programs.” I said. Of course at the time I made that statement I had no idea how to make a fan program but when assembly day arrived I was in fact an “old pro”. Of course the project didn’t come together without a few hiccups, because what would a Kerri P. project be without a few hiccups?

Bennie Gottsch Got Married

Monday, September 30th, 2013

Around the same time I was finishing up with all of my wedding projects for Troy and Sara’s wedding I received an email from an old friend. It started out “Hey Kerri P, Liz Gottsch here, remember I lived across the street?” As if I could forget Liz Gottsch.

Caitlin & Daniel Wedding Invitations

1 Caitlin and Daniel

Several months ago I was contacted by Caitlin and her mom Judy about making wedding invitations and programs for her August wedding. They would be having a small, simple wedding in her parent’s back yard. Caitlin knew she wanted a tree on the invitation as it would be an outdoor wedding.

I drew up a design and sent it to them and it was a go (only one try!). Everything else, of course, didn’t go quite that smoothly.

Southern Fried Parties: The Wipeout Zone

Wipeout 1

Welcome to the first edition of “Southern Fried Parties”! A monthly (well, I probably shouldn’t promise monthly since if you haven’t noticed I tend to fall behind with the blogging), let’s just say, a feature I HOPE to get to once a month in which I show off the amazingly creative mind of my little sis who lives down south (hence the “Southern Fried” headline). I’ve mentioned her party planning prowess before (the mind behind the “Greatest Baby Shower on Earth”) and now I invite you all to attend one of the greatest parties she’s every pulled off. Be warned, I was on hand for this one and took a ton of pictures which means you are once again in for a very long post.

Some Assembly Required

Thursday, June 27th, 2013

Another round of wedding invitations out the door. Sometime in December my cousin Joni asked if I would make wedding invitations and some other paper products for her son Troy’s upcoming July wedding. My answer was of course “Yes!!” It’s a good thing I come from a big family because so far the cousins are keeping me in business.

Hello World

Friday, June 14th, 2013

My niece Morgan asked me to design a birth announcement for her little “Soybean” Sawyer Mae. So here’s what I came up with. Gotta have options.

Sawyer No. 1

Option No. 1.

Sawyer No. 2

Option No. 2.

Sawyer No. 3

And Option No. 3.

Can you guess which one she went with? Personally No. 2 was my favorite but no one ever picks the one that I like. And the winner is…. drumroll please…. No. 3. The last one I did and the first one picked. That’s how it always goes.
