A Little Bit of Heaven

August 14th, 2014

A friend of mine lost her father a few weeks ago. She lost him to that horrible disease cancer. And not just cancer, pancreatic cancer, the worst of the worst. One of her best friends contacted me wondering if I could make a print of some kind as a type of memorium to Jaime’s dad, just a little something that she could hang in her house, a little reminder of her much loved father, a fighter who gave until the end.

Anne sent me a photo of a wooden sign she had found online that said, “Because someone we love is in heaven there’s a little bit of heaven in our home.” Isn’t that a wonderful sentiment? So I started playing around with all of my favorite fonts until I came up with this…

I stuck with the black and white color scheme that I’ve become so fond of, it seemed fitting for this project. The print ended up being 11×14 and I framed it in a 16×20 black frame with a white mat.

Anne and Sara, I was truly honored that you would ask me to make something for your friend during her time of grief. And Jaime, I so hope that little bit of paper and ink provides you with just a little bit of comfort.

I just saw this now. I love seeing this in our home and I think of my dad every time I see it. Thanks so much, Kerri!
