For the first time in my life I awoke on New Year’s Eve Day to the same amazing aroma as all of my other Mennonite brethren. That would be the smell of New Year’s Cookies wafting from the direction of my sister’s kitchen. What’s a New Year’s Cookie you ask? Well, look up above, see those little fried dough balls full of raisins… those are New Year’s Cookies, and they haven’t even reached their height of amazingness yet, that happens …. NOW…

Shopping, Polish Canasta and chicken fried steaks as big as your head… that sounds like the perfect combination for a happy New Year’s Eve, right? Well, it was technically already New Years Eve Day when we arrived in Leander. So the first order of business was room assignments…

10 Hours and Counting

I miss MZ BNZ. It’s 10 hours and counting and the walls of the Durango are closing in on me. The new vehicle is definitely not as user friendly for 13 hour car trips as the old golden bullet was. It could have something to do with the fact that we have crammed five fully grown (some of us extra fully grown) adults into a medium sized SUV. Since sleep is apparently not going to happen I might as well update you on the trip so far.
