Order Up for Paisley Rae

Saturday, April 27th, 2013

Order up for Miss Dani Chrisman. After the “Greatest Baby Shower On Earth” Dani asked if I could make a birth print like Sawyer’s for some of her friends. I gave her the option of just the print alone or I could find her a frame that I would paint to match the print. She chose the latter option, I mean why wouldn’t you, framing stuff is always the biggest pain and for me it’s always done at the last minute.

A Productive Day

Giggle Bluebonnets

Spring is fighting it’s way out! My random bluebonnets popped up overnight. At least I think they are bluebonnets, they just show up for a few weeks, make me smile, and then are gone again. They picked a glorious day to make their arrival. Eighty-two degrees on a Saturday! Woo-hoo! So glad I planned an outdoor activity for today.

‘Welcome to Hollywood! What’s your dream?”

Friday, April 26th, 2013

“Welcome to Hollywood! What’s your dream?” anyone recognize that movie quote? Well, my dream over the weekend was being able to recreate light-up marquee letters from bits and pieces of foam board, poster board and Scotch Tape, lots and lots of Scotch Tape.

Shoppin’ ‘The Mart’

Down the aisle

On the last day of my sister’s visit home to good ol’ Nebraska the family decided to load up and head to Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha. The Newmans were on a quest for some new living room furniture, and all agreed this purchase was long overdue.

‘Fiddler On The Roof’

Fiddler 1

Nobody puts on a musical like my alma mater! I went to the Saturday performance of Heartland’s ‘Fiddler On The Roof’ and was blown away! It was like a college level production complete with dry ice smoke and a 10-foot tall ghost. There wasn’t a single weak voice in the bunch, the sets were amazing and the staging of the scenes was so creative. It was so inspiring that my friend Ang and I, who are what you would call ‘Musical Junkies’, have been listening to our ‘Fiddler On The Roof’ station on Pandora all week.

Congratulations to the hard-working cast and crew, the talented directors and all involved in putting on a first class production. I’m going to play the late Roger Ebert and give it a two enthusiastic thumbs up!

The Greatest Baby Shower On Earth (Oh my, Aren’t We Full Of Ourselves)

Introducing Sawyer Mae

‘The Greatest Baby Shower On Earth’ is in the books. Everything came together and we were able to pull off another one. The brains behind this operation, my sister Kris, rolled into town from Texas last Thursday and you could almost hear the ‘Ya-da-da-da-da-da-dot-da-da-da-da-da’ circus music trailing behind her.

Cutting Corners

Friday, April 12th, 2013

No, I don’t mean “cutting corners” as in taking the easy way out and creating a crappy product, because believe me, this wasn’t easy or a shortcut. I wanted my Heartland Prom tickets to have the cut corners so they would look like a ticket. When I designed them I had my fingers crossed that the printer I’ve been using would have some way to cut the corners. Eeeehhhh! (that’s supposed to sound like a game show buzzer) he did not have that capability and thought I was crazy to attempt to do it by hand. Actually what he said was “You do realize it’s four corners per ticket and 140 tickets!” “Yes.” I told him, “I’ve hand cut more than that for a project.”

Ah Springtime in Nebraska… there’s nothing like getting off of work at 11:30 at night, having to pry your ice covered car door open, scrape an inch of ice off the windshield in the pouring rain and then drive home on ice covered roads while it lightnings and thunders all around ON THE 9TH OF APRIL!!!

And then an hour after getting home (and drying off) it’s lights out.

lights out

Not only lights out, heats out. Nothing to do but layer up and climb under the covers. What a way to end a very long day.

Always listen to your brother-in-law

Spray Paint Cans

My sister and I were on the phone the other night discussing decorating plans for the upcoming shower we are throwing for our niece. It’s a circus theme and I let Kris know that I had bought some of those little plastic circus animals that come in a tube in the toy aisle. Our plan was to spray paint them to match our color palette. I’m sure you have all seen this courtesy of Martha Stewart on Pinterest.
